Introduction
  • In the theoretical approach to probability, we try to predict what will happen without performing the experiment.
  • An elementary event is said to be favourable to compound event A if it satisfies the definition of the compound event.
  • The sum of the probabilities of all the outcomes (elementary events) of an experiment is 1.
  • An outcome of a random experiment is called an elementary event.
  • An event A associated with a random experiment is said to occur if any one of the elementary events associated with event A is an outcome.
  • Class 10 Maths NCERT Solutions Chapter 15 Probability introduces the concept of the theoretical probability of any event; it is also referred to as classical probability. The chapter’s goal is to teach this concept through the use of some simple problems. Students must have covered the experimental or also known as the empirical probability of the events up to this point, which was based on the results of the actual experiments. They will now investigate a theoretical approach to probability in which it is assumed that the results of the experiment are ‘equally likely.’

An important takeaway from NCERT Solutions Class 10 Maths Chapter 15 for students is that when they solve the problems, they will discover that when the probabilities of the elementary events are added, they equal one, and an event that is impossible to occur has a probability of zero. Furthermore, the concepts of elementary and complementary events are thoroughly discussed.
