Introduction

Students should memorise certain key factors from the chapter to help them implement correct concepts while solving a question. It will also prevent them from making silly mistakes in exams and losing marks. Some of the very important points to be remembered from NCERT Class 11 Maths Chapter 10 can be noted down from below:

  • Condition for Parallel and Perpendicular Lines: (i) Two lines are parallel if and only if their slopes are equal.
(ii) Two lines are perpendicular if and only if the product of their slopes is −1
  • Collinearity of three points: Three points, P, Q and R, are collinear if and only if the Slope of PQ = Slope of QR
  • Slope of a horizontal line is zero, and the slope of a vertical line is undefined.
  • Two lines are parallel if and only if their slopes are equal.
  • Definition of a Straight line: Every first-degree equation in x, y represents a straight line.
